CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide. Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist. The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs. The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. Our terrorist hunters, skiers, mountain bike riders and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen. Thousands of athletes worldwide have followed our workouts posted daily on this site and distinguished themselves in combat, the streets, the ring, stadiums, gyms and homes.

1.5.13 Sandy Hook Memorial WOD

Today we will be doing the Sandy Hook Memorial WOD that Newtown's CrossFit RedZone has put together.  It is a fundraiser WOD, & you can see the info HERE and the donation page HERE.  Though we aren't participating in the fundraiser, we can still honor the victims, their families and the Newtown community in our workout.

The membership at Natural Selection includes a number of teachers, school district employees and others closely associated with education.  The tragedy in Newtown was very sobering all across the nation, especially in our schools.  As a teacher myself, events like this remind me of how fragile life can be and how important my job truly is.  Thanks for showing your support by participating in this workout.

THE SANDY HOOK MEMORIAL WOD

Partner WOD
10:00 AMRAP

10 Thrusters, 95/65
6 Burpees
10 KB Swings, 53/35

Only 1 partner can work at a time & teams cannot advance to the next movement until both partners have completed their work.  So, partner A does 10 thrusters then partner B does 10 thrusters--teams then move to burpees.  You don't have to work "in order" each movement, but you must complete your work before your partner can work.
